Do Your Part Recycle And Help Mother Nature

It doesn’t have to be difficult or time consuming, but there are some rules on household items you may not be aware of!

Here is a simple breakdown of the rules for Chandler & Gilbert recycling programs.

Items should be:

  • Empty, clean & dry

  • Do NOT bag recyclables

  • Lids should be closed

 

Paper

YES!

NO!

  • Newspapers & Inserts

  • Gift wrap, gift bags or tissue paper

  • Magazines, catalogs, phone books

  • Paper plates, napkins, paper towels, cups  or facial tissues

  • White or colored paper

  • Pet food bags

  • Junk mail and envelopes


  • Shredded paper (Bagged and tied securely.Only time you can use plastic bags; prevents litter)


 

Cardboard

YES!

NO!

  • Prepared food boxes

  •   Milk or juice cartons

  • Shoe Boxes

  • Boxes contaminated with food or grease

  • Moving/Shipping Boxes


  • Egg cartons


  • Paper towel/toilet paper cardboard tubes


  • Pizza boxes (not soiled w/ grease or food)


Plastic Bottles & Containers

YES!

NO!

  • Beverage bottles and jugs showing 1-6 recycle symbol

  • Plastic bags or shrink wrap (even if itdoes say recyclable)

  • Shampoo & soap bottles

  • Styrofoam- even those marked recyclable

  • Liquid laundry detergent jugs


  • Yogurt, margarine, sour cream tubs


  • Frozen food trays


Metal

YES! NO!
  • Aluminum cans, clean foil, pie pans

  • Cans with paint, pesticides or hazardous materials

  • Steel/tin cans (vegetable, fruit and soup cans)

  • No hangers or other metal items

  • Empty aerosol cans (shaving cream, deodorant, cooking spray)


Glass

YES!

NO!

  • Beverage bottles (all colors)

  • Mirrors

  • Food jars (labels are ok)

  • Drinking glasses, plates or any other types of glass


  • Windows
